A PASSAGE TO INDIA (my ode based on the book)
Adela Quested and Mrs. Moore
Arrive in India and wish to explore
Aziz invites them to a cave
Ronny Heaslop, son of Mrs. Moore
Is chief magistrate of Chandrapore
He refuses and wants them to stay
To Marabar Caves, no one should go
A man-made entrance, hollow inside
There is nothing worth while to show
Dr. Aziz carefully planned the trip
But Fielding and Godbole miss the train
This is because Godbole kept on prayin'
Once at the caves
On so hot a day
Everyone was tired, and to their dismay,
The cave was no relief
That echo, that echo
Like none other before
So many people, so little space
Oh poor, poor Mrs. Moore
Couldn't stay a bit more
The time was about noon
When up to another cave went only three
A guide, Miss Adela, and Dr. Aziz
Adela talks about love and marriage
Aziz leaves Adela to go smoke in a cave
Adela goes exploring and doesn't behave
Aziz goes back to look for Adela
She lights a match and loses her mind
She runs back home leaving Aziz behind
Adela accuses him of rape
But this is later withdrawn
Mrs. Moore dies on her way home
To wrap things up, Fielding marries Stella
Aziz thought wrong when he thought Adela
This is the end.
